Can I teach myself to play piano by ear? Will Learn and Master Piano help?

Question by Jake J: Can I teach myself to play piano by ear? Will Learn and Master Piano help?
I’ve been taking piano lessons for about 3-4 years total, but I had some unfortunate events in my life that disrupted my lessons, and I never got a solid foundation for piano. I kept struggling with piano lessons hoping that someday I would become good. I couldn’t keep tempo at all, and my dynamics were horrible. In addition to all of that, I found out about a month ago that I couldn’t take piano lessons anymore, so I thought that I was pretty much doomed to never learn the piano.

About a week ago, I found out that my friend had “Learn and Master Piano” by Will Barrow. I can’t afford it on my own, but my friend agreed to lend it to me.

If I go through Learn and Master Piano from the very beginning to reinforce the basics of piano, can I eventually become good enough to play music by ear? What do you recommend I do after Learn and Master Piano?

Do I still have any chance of learning to play the piano? I don’t want to be a concert pianist or anything!

I have not used the course you mentioned but have seen many reviews on it.

I have used a very similar one called Rocket Piano, http://pianolearners.com/rocket-piano-review/ which worked really well for me.

I too had lessons and later took it up again by using a couple of these courses.
The most thorough one for me, the one to use after “learn and master piano” would probably be Piano For All http://pianolearners.com/piano-for-all-review/ which starts at beginners level but teaches to quite advanced levels for improvisation, classical, jazz and gospel.
