Tips, Tricks & Piano Playin' Resources

cannot make up my mind about learning how to play violin or piano?

I don’t know anything about playing any instrument or about music reading and i want to learn how to play the violin or the piano, but i can’t really make up my mind. i think i slightly like the violin more, but i heard that it is better to learn to play piano first so i could learn how to recognize the pitch of the notes (something like that), is this true? because if it is true than i think even thou i like the violin more i should go for piano first, of course i would rather to just learn to play the violin. what you guys think i should do?

I would suggest starting with piano.

First of all, both instruments require reading musical scores, but the piano has an advantage: if you play the same note any number of times, you get the same sound. Second, the notes are arranged in order, and related to a specific position in the board. Opposite to this, when playing violin, you don’t have any markings to determine a specific note. If you slide your finger up or down the note will increase or decrease frequency, changing to a different note. Also, until you learn how to press the string, the sound may not be the one you expect.
Therefore, go from easy to complex, start by memorizing what each note sounds like by studying piano, and after you master it, get on the violin. And remember that when you tune up a violin, you use nomally the piano sound as a reference
good luck
