As a Piano Teacher, you can't learn piano without a piano. I just taught someone that didn't have a piano their first month of lessons and it was quite frustrating. I was going to have to tell him to discontinue lessons until he got a piano, but luckily he found one before it came to that point. A keyboard my be sufficient when just beginning to learn, however you should check with your teacher first. There are also different types of Keyboards and some are better than others. But you have to have a piano unless are you are in a university setting where they will provide pianos and practice rooms for you.
