I play piano and usually I look for a guy that plays piano too, or some sort of common instrument…but I have found that hardly any guys play piano (or at least admit to it.) Is it bad if you're too picky when it comes to guys? or should you get what you want if you know what will make you happy?
To be quiet frank, its the hands. As a rule, women's hands are better built for the piano. Naturally there are exceptions. However, there are plenty of instruments which work with, or harmonize with the piano. Try things like the: accordion, violin/fiddle, irish tin whistle, banjo (i don't like banjo, but it would work)
Speaking from experience, try to stay away from most common instruments if your going to be using the piano (saxophone, trumpet, drums) they usually don't work well together one on one.
If your interested in finding a musical man, try hitting some irish bars. You can ask the bartender when 'free play' is. If he doesn't understand ask him if regular musicians come in to play. *usually on a friday or saturday*
The best thing about us irish musicians is we can usually play many different instruments. Also, there's nothing wrong with sitting us on the bench next to you and trying to teach us ;} Good Luck!
