My teacher’s piano is very stiff and muddy sounding and the keys feel weird to me. I can play a piece perfectly on my piano, but when I go to her house to play each week, I sound terrible.
Let her know there is a problem and make sure you get to warm up slowly at the start of the lesson. No one plays quite as well in front of a teacher until there is a feeling of comfort in the studio. Most important what are you practicing on at home? If you have a keyboard without hammer weighted action you are lost. An acoustic piano would be best, but some Yamaha keyboards have adjustable touch, this would be your intermediate solution. Best wishes.
