I’m learning piano but reading the notes takes too long for my brain to register. Can someone please give me advice on exercises I can do? How do I improve my sight reading? And how many years will it take for sight reading become easy and effortless?
I have done a lot of different things, flash cards and stuff like that.
What I really noticed help me with reading music was actually writing it down. I started to compose little pieces of music, and I didn’t want to use a notation program just for this reason.
It really helps you learn the notes and comprehend them when you have to write them down.
I would say a flash card program, they make free ones for computer or you could even get free ones for the ipod series. writing it, i think, is the best way.
