How do I prevent an upright piano fallboard from falling on playing fingers?

I have small kids with access to an upright piano with a fallboard that does not have the slow fall feature. Is there an easy way to prevent the fallboard from falling on their fingers while they’re playing the piano?

how about a piece of foam glued to the underside of the fallboard, if it falls the foam will hit the keys & hold it up
