I already learned how to play the sax.and i make more hip hop type of beats so i know how to work my way with the keyboard a little bit.but i feel like if i learn piano it might make me a better producer and help me to get some of these melodies out of my head and on my fingers.what do u guys think?
I think you are on the right track! Piano study is FUNDAMENTAL to true learning of any aspect of music. By all means, get LESSONS at first, to get off to a good start, and then decide how far you want to go. Do NOT try to teach yourself, just buy a book, go on some website – you will waste time and get frustrated. A good teacher is worth every dollar, and a poor teacher is a waste of every penny. Also learn some theory – you CAN do that from website, of which there are many. Learn to read music well – nobody in the music business has ever regretted having TOO much knowledge. but many have regretted having too LITTLE knowledge. And – get yourself some business classes. Making music is great – making MONEY while making music is better.
