I have received an 88 Key Digital Piano from Yamaha for my birthday and have always wanted to learn to play. I am 27 and will be learning on my own mostly, through software and some tutoring. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is good to learn on, considering its what I have?
I'm 13, and have been playing since 1st grade. I've always had an electronic piano, but I take lessons once a week on a grand piano. I can say that the one problem you might have in the long run is that the digital keys are lighter than the weighted piano keys. This can be a problem if you want to play on a grand and your not used to the weight. This happened to me once at a talent show, on my keyboard I was fine, on the grand i fumbled some keys at the faster (16th note) parts. However this problem can be fixed because there is a new Yamaha piano that has pedals and weighted keys just like a real piano, I don't know what you have but I get along with a Casio just fine most of the time. Good luck starting out!
