Keyboard Shortcuts To Become Faster On Your Computer

When using a computer, especially with tasks that are fairly similar, it’s always best to look for a way of becoming more efficient at your tasks. Many times simply using the mouse won’t be the fastest way of using your computer. Pointing and clicking does get the job done, but there is also another hand you can be using at the same time with an entire keyboard that can help you with keystrokes versus just using the mouse.

At times in a workplace it can be almost painful watching people who have refused to learn keyboard shortcuts. Seeing them work slow and refusing to learn how to be more efficient is difficult. But there is a way to change that if you are willing to learn.

First of all, whenever working with an application where you see the File, Edit, and other options at the top of the screen, take 10 minutes to click on each one of these and examine the keyboard shortcuts. Many times an application will tell you that Alt+KEYSTROKE will turn on or off a setting or perform an action. While using your mouse with your right hand, your left hand can be hitting series of ALT+KEYSTROKE to perform your tasks.

Realistically at one point in time you had to learn which drop down menu to click on and where that selection was from that menu. That is just as hard if not harder than remembering to hit ALT+Q for example. While you may not master all the keyboard shortcuts, it could be a good idea if you work on a computer to just learn one shortcut per week. Eventually your efficiency on a computer will get much better.
