Clarinet or recorder.

i started playing the violin in 1st grade, and it’s not too difficult
but, the hard part is learning where to put your fingers (so you get the right notes)
the best way, if you did decide to learn, is to look up where the notes are (or ask your local music store person) and put little stickers or tape or something, so you can get the right spot
once you know where to put your fingers, it’s much easier and is very enjoyable to play!

honestly the recorder is but, no one really likes it even though it is a perfect steeping stone to other, more complex, instruments

guitar is very easy to teach yourself to play. they are also easy and finding a relatively cheap guitar which has a decent sound quality is not hard to do. There are also a lot of free tabs online so you can practice songs you know once you know some basic chords.

Saxofon is easier than violin and if you already know how to read notes much better. Sax sounds so beautiful.

I’d say clarinet. That’s what I learned off of. It might see confusing at first, but it’s really easy. You sould go for clarinet. Or trumpet if clarinet is not your thing. :)
The only frustrating thing about clarient, is putting it together. It has a lot of pieces, and you have to soak your reed first, There might be a few squeaks that sound like a dying goose when your first start, But trust me it’s a lot of fun and worth it. It helps you learn notes easier. :)

Guitar is what I recomend. I have been playing for a year and I love it! once you learn you can play for hours. and on YouTube they have self teach lessons that can teach you . you can also find very cheap ones that are still good for the bassic enjoyment of playing. .

hope I helped :) goodluck.

violin is a great instrument to start on.I’ve been playing various instruments since i was 5 starting with piano. i even taught myself the violin just a few years ago. a lot of schools start teaching kids in kindergarten by using the suzuki method. they sell books on the suzuki method which is mainly learning my listening. I would recommend it, it just isn’t the quietest instrument to learn.

I am a harpist, so I have to recommend the harp. However, it is expensive to buy a pedal harp (about $20,000 for a good one) but the lever harps are about $4,000 for a good one. The lever harp is a good beginning harp, but after a while, you may feel the need to move on to the pedal harp for more complicated pieces. I like it because it is versatile instrument like the piano, but much easier to play since your fingers on both hands move the same way. On the piano they move differently, and that always tripped me up. If you have any piano music, you can play it on the harp. It is very fun, and others will find it interesting that you are playing it because there aren’t many harpists out there.

I would say Electric guitar.
Now before you think "oh god, not those noisy things", my boyfriend has one in our 1 bedroom unit & he plugs his directly into the stereo (so you don’t need an amp) and he can turn it down so it’s not noisy. Because your in a unit or apartment, noise can be an issue and a normal acoustic guitar has but one volume…loud!
Also with the electric, you can get so many different sounds from the one guitar. You can make it sound like an acoustic or heavy metal, to soft sounds to eco tunes. Just wonderful!
Also easy to learn, can buy one for a starting price of about $200, can get sheet music of the net & sounds great for solo songs.
Good luck :D

You could try learning an electric bass. I’ve been playing the piano on and off for years, and I wanted to learn something new, so I tried the bass. It is a very basic instrument, because a standard electric only has four strings and you are primarily just holding the song together. It is not a lead instrument.

To be honest, I took a couple of lessons, I hardly know any of the notes, but I can play just fine by ear. I really enjoy playing, but hope to become better. :-) I hope you learn something nice!

Oh geez, everybody always says guitar… I actually would say flute. I personally play the flute, and found it was pretty easy to start. It’s small, convenient, and, because it plays on the treble clef, you can try figuring out the melodies to favorite songs. Basic understanding of the notes is helpful, just watch out for flats. Flutes LOVE flats.

Bass is good too, especially if you also want to learn violin or already know violin. This is because the bass strings are just the reverse of violin strings. I play bass, too, and it’s really fun.

Recoreder is a good option if you want to teach yourself. And there are lots of nice, moving pieces for recorder, so that is what I recommend.
