im learning by ear and playing tabs
i haven’t gone to classes and im thinking of learning by myself
im improving each time
what are some things that you can tell me to start off and tips to play the piano WITHOUT a teacher or anything

Hey there!
Firstly, i applaud you for attempting it on your own! I myself picked up piano myself just last year and i have to say that i’ve accomplished more than I thought i would.

What i did was to pick out songs that i loved and i basically listened to them over and over again and wrote down the notes from each hand, and then practiced till i got it all right! it really doesn’t take that long if you’re passionate enough about it.

I’ve never had a music teacher in my life and i play guitar and piano. you’d find that the internet these days is getting so helpful, especially with people making tutorials on youtube (i’ve made a couple myself) and guitar tabs available almost everywhere.

My tip: practice and don’t give up because it’s always worth it.
I compose for film, you can give my piano pieces a listen :

good luck!! :)

P.s: I disagree that without a teacher you can’t get anywhere. Afterall the first piano piece i taught myself was Yann Tiersen’s La Valse D’Amelie. It’s not mozart, but it sure was an accomplishment!
