Yes, you can learn piano at home. Especially because there's so much great information on the internet, available for free!

First of all, you want to find the best digital piano or keyboard you can, for the money you have. Don't buy a keyboard at WalMart – those are more like toys than musical instruments. Go to a music store. They will have lots of different brands of keyboards, low-end, more inexpensive ones, and high-end, more expensive ones. Of course no digital piano is going to sound like a true acoustic piano, but the digitals have much better sound than they did even 5 years ago, because the technology is so much better!

Find a keyboard with full-size (not miniature) keys, and as many keys as you can, at least 5 octaves (more is better). If you can get a full keyboard with 88 keys, that's great! Find one with a sound you like, because you'll be playing it a lot, hopefully! If you can afford something with weighted keys, that would be great too, although that may be out of your price range. Weighted keys means the keys feel more like real piano keys – heavy to push down.

Yamaha makes decent keyboards that can get you started learning piano for $200-$300. They don't have full keyboards or weighted keys, but the sounds are good, and a lot of them even have lessons built in. Yamaha also has a website where you can do interactive lessons and music by plugging your keyboard into your computer, it's pretty cool.

So, once you have a keyboard, you can go to YouTube and search for piano lessons – there are tons of free lessons. You can also search at Google for free piano lessons, and you'll find lots there, too.

One other thing — do you have any friends who play? Maybe they could teach you the basics. You could also ask at school if the band director or choir director would give you lessons during lunch or study hall. Then, you might even get to practice on a real piano!

Good luck! You can find a way if you really want to learn – don't give up!
