Tips, Tricks & Piano Playin' Resources

On my piano lesson, is it OK to jump ahead a few pages?

My first lesson has already gotten too easy. I am now practicing six pages ahead as well. Should I just focus on practicing on my first lesson only, or should I continue to proceed and (pleasantly) surprise my piano instructor at my next lesson?
1. My first lesson was this past Tuesday.

2. I am 35 years old.

3. I've been typing 140 WPM for about 20 years.

Wow, I'd say "YES" and I am curious what piano piece you are practicing right now. Make sure you surprise your piano teacher so that regardless how you play and misktaes exists, at least she can make some evaluation on you. Everyone learns differently and your teacher needs to be able to identify so that she/he can enhance your talent and at the same time, she/he will instruct in a way where your weakness will be improved. If teacher gets upset, please ask for reason. If he/she is a good teacher, the instructor should be able to tell you everything in a logical way, at the same time, no teacher should hold you back. If you absolutely absorbed very first lesson and going beyond, your teacher certainly should be able to adjust the teaching to your skill level and knowledge. Flexibility is very important since each students learns in different speed!
