Tips, Tricks & Piano Playin' Resources

Piano Question?

How hard are these two songs to learn? I plan on taking Pianos lessons soon starting from scratch. I'm going to put my full dedication into learning piano around 3hours + daily. I also have a piano at home which I can practice with. I'm 18 years old.

I'm expecting maybe 1-2 years to reach that level?

second song

The very first song I ever learned was Rachmaninoff's Humoresque, and I learned it piece by piece, usually two or three measures at a time, without the music, and practiced them until my fingers practically bled, it took me a little over a year to learn it, I was 7, and while I did learn a great deal doing it, it's not something I'd recommend until you had at least two or three years under your belt, especially for these songs, seeing as how there are a lot of difficult and occasionally syncopated rhythms to deal with.

I have been playing the piano for fourteen yeas and have been teaching for five and while I would never do this to any of my students, I can say from experience that you could learn to play both of these songs, but it will take a very, very long time and you might get frustrated and give up on the piano entirely.

I would say, wait a couple of years until you learn more about the piano and then take a swing at it. Hope this helps. Good luck!
