But it takes a lot … But it takes a lot less energy to power the escalator when it is lifting no one.
It’s like a car: supposing you want to travel at, say, 80 mph, the car will use more gas as the number of passengers increase.
No one here is … No one here is actually considering the idea of scrapping the escalators altogether. That isn’t an option for the exact same reasons you pointed out.
It’s not about energy saving either, since the energy gain or loss would be minimal.
The idea here is to try to creatively convince people to have a healthier life by making a little more exercise every day.
-A- Yes but do you … -A- Yes but do you think that the city would get rid of the escalators when there are elderly or handicapped that are unable to walk up the stairs? So itd be additional money.
this was cool, I … this was cool, I love how people of every age still just went for the option that was just a bit silly. Can anyone who has, or is considering a post remarking on the “energy used by the sound pads blah blah blah” just shut the up. We all KNOW it used energy, but it wasnt about that, it was about putting a smile on peoples faces.
KILA3888 – America … KILA3888 – America might sue but Aus (specifically Sydney) wouldn’t allow them in the first place because of OH&S (health and safety).
So cool though. Shows that Adults like fun too. Everything fun is usually done for kids.
Come on, it takes a … Come on, it takes a small amount of energy to power those speakers, in comparison to the energy necessary to power the escalator.
yeah the sad thing … yeah the sad thing about this vid is it promotes personal health but not economical health, by putting those sound boards in its additional power being drained ontop of the continously moving escalator
Do you really think … Do you really think those piano sounds come out of thin air? Those require energy to produce sound. And seeing that they’re at a subway entereance, it’s highly unlikely they’re solar powered either.
