‘Tea forTwo’ – solo jazz piano lesson

This is the second video lesson I have done that is based on this tune. The other, in a different key, was an improvised accompaniment to jazz singer Michelle Benjamin – www.youtube.com I have used a number of different solo jazz piano techniques in recording this one. It was completely improvised from a basic leadsheet, and the notation derived from the midi file that I recorded along with the audio. ‘It Could Happen To You’ (HD version) – jazz piano lesson. This is a reworking of one of my very early videos – even though it had over 12,000 views, it did not have a transcription included, and I would like to take ad vantage of Youtube’s HD option, which for these videos is excellent. The original video is in the bottom left corner, and I have married it to the large notation and keyboard views – and added some more annotations.

‘Darn That Dream’ – solo jazz piano lesson

This video was played on my recently acquired Kawai baby grand. It is difficult to get the sound I want in recording an acoustic piano – so easy with a digital. And I can derive a transcription from the midi file recorded as I play on a digital piano which can’t be done with an acoustic! But of course the Kawai is so much more enjoyable to actually play.
I am experimenting with different formats – I have added the leadsheet with the chord scheme I used. The video can be downloaded free from my website at http://www.bushgrafts.com

This only took me like 10 hours to transcribe and record the video for! Hope you like it!

I found some great free transcription software. Post a comment if you want to know more about it. This should take many plays to learn how to play. Don’t get frustrated if you have to pause and rewind the video.
