Please leave me some notes on how to improve my tutorial videos – Any comments are appreciated.

Here are all the notes for Part 1. This should be used in conjunction with the video as this will probably be hard to follow if just read by itself. I’m hoping this isn’t too complicated; if it is please let me know and then I’ll try to make it better.

Notes to the left of the slash are what the left hand plays and what’s right of the slash are what the right hand plays. Notes that are together with no commas in between are to be played together (as can be seen by octaves in the left hand). If there is a dash to the left of the slash, nothing is played in the left hand.

When there is a x2 or x4 with the notes, only the right hand is to be played that many times. Hopefully this can be of help, if not I’ll try to make it easier to understand.

My name is Rafe. I am in a band called Trick of Disaster. A few years ago I made a video called learn piano in 3 minutes on a whim, and now it has over 130,000 views and gets over 300 views every day. So because of that, I decided to make a lot videos. The idea here isnt to take someone from moderate to expert, but to take someone from beginner to moderate. I try to keep things as simple as possible, starting at the very beginning. It doesnt matter how inexperienced you are, the idea is Im trying to keep it so easy that even a novice student who has never seen a grand piano before will learn something.

The last line of the sheet music might seem a little different, it is a joke. If you have to ask about it, you obviously don’t get jokes. Yes, people ask me if I “accidentally” put that on there, or if that’s really in the song.

This is a instructional video on how to play viva la vida by Coldplay. I am better at playing than teaching so it might be hard to learn.

If I am going to fast, then you probably shouldn’t be learning this song.
