How to Play Moonlight Sonata Part 1 – Piano Tutorial

Part 1 of Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven in C# minor.

Hey guys, hope you enjoy part one.
Please leave me some notes on how to improve my tutorial videos – Any comments are appreciated.

Here are all the notes for Part 1. This should be used in conjunction with the video as this will probably be hard to follow if just read by itself. I’m hoping this isn’t too complicated; if it is please let me know and then I’ll try to make it better.

Notes to the left of the slash are what the left hand plays and what’s right of the slash are what the right hand plays. Notes that are together with no commas in between are to be played together (as can be seen by octaves in the left hand). If there is a dash to the left of the slash, nothing is played in the left hand.

When there is a x2 or x4 with the notes, only the right hand is to be played that many times. Hopefully this can be of help, if not I’ll try to make it easier to understand.

‘It Could Happen To You’ (HD version) – jazz piano lesson. This is a reworking of one of my very early videos – even though it had over 12,000 views, it did not have a transcription included, and I would like to take ad vantage of Youtube’s HD option, which for these videos is excellent. The original video is in the bottom left corner, and I have married it to the large notation and keyboard views – and added some more annotations.
The printable transcription, and the bass and drums backing track are on my instructional DVD

‘Darn That Dream’ – solo jazz piano lesson

This video was played on my recently acquired Kawai baby grand. It is difficult to get the sound I want in recording an acoustic piano – so easy with a digital. And I can derive a transcription from the midi file recorded as I play on a digital piano which can’t be done with an acoustic! But of course the Kawai is so much more enjoyable to actually play.
I am experimenting with different formats – I have added the leadsheet with the chord scheme I used. The video can be downloaded free from my website at http://www.bushgrafts.com
