Question by mo0ink: Transferring from Jr. College to 4-year university, is it too late for AFROTC?
Hello,
When I was young, I loved the army, I played with toy soldiers and studied military history by watching the Hitler’s channel AKA the History Channel. My situation is this, my older bro is joining the marines, and I want to join AFROTC. I am currently at a community college where I am taking my generals before moving up to a university.
I want to try out for ARROTC, I am 5’7″ male, 130 lbs, ambidextrous, I made 102 on my pacer test, can do one-handed push ups, 45 sit-ups under 1 min, 55 push-ups under 1 min and ran 2 miles in under 11 mins in HS. However, these things are useless to the AF if you don’t have the brains.
I’m doing well in college right now, I am in my 1st year, planning on taking Calculus, chemistry, biology, learning the Piano, “Chinese?” maybe, volunteering 560 + hours at a hospital and working part-time. Experiences–I believe, will be vital to the air force.
In a nutshell,
How long will it take? How will I do it? (some say it’s too late, I will never catch up missing 2 years) and how much will it cost (tuition + books)?
Do I have a chance for military academy?
Do you think it will be more harder if a person was doing pre-med and doing AFROTC?
Do you think taking Chinese will help me stand out above the crowd?
I plan on living off campus, at home, and commuting by bus to campus. How can I fit PT, academics and work into college life?
btw, I plan on possible be majoring in biochemistry, chemical engineering, or likely a field in dentistry. I am undecided. I do not want to be a pilot, probably an intelligence officer???
I live in Minnesota.
I am a 1st-responder.
