So I’m a junior and I’m planning on taking AP music theory as a senior. I can’t read music, or perhaps I should say I have only a basic understanding of music reading, but I play guitar and I played the trumpet for two years in band. I missed out this year because I didn’t take the piano course they offer at school, but we do have a keyboard at the house that I could learn to play over the year. However, my question is, what are the basic requirements to begin music theory?
well i’m taking it right now as a senior and it is pretty challenging. U MUST KNOW HOW TO READ MUSIC FIRST!!!!! if u don’t, then the class will be torture…….i would definitely learn the basics of piano when u have time and practice singing do-re-mi…… cuz this will help u in the class. i do believe that PIANO is the best instrument to guide u in the class because the music is in standard transposition!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! i currently have a 102 in the class and i feel i need to raise my score…….lol……..
