Whats it called when a key sustains a sound?

i bought a NP-30 portable grand piano keyboard the other day and im trying to learn a song that requires each note to sustain itself after i let go of the key. i cant understand this manual, as i am new to music and i am trying to figure out where it talks about sustaining a sound. for now my keyboard just plays a sound for as long as I hold the key, but stops when i let go.

Not a good manual…
There should be a setting in there called "sustenance" or something similar to that. Apparently that’s turned off right now, because with classical pianos the note hangs for a while, you’re right.
Sounds lame, but try pushing some buttons, check the book again, maybe call some foreign customer support?

Good luck and happy Holidays! :)
