I need to pick a new hobby, which one is difficult to learn Piano or Violin?
Considered that i do not play any instruments.
Violin is a more precise instrument than a piano. Fingering a fretless instrument does not leave much room for error. Piano is laid out in a straight line and can be easier to comprehend for someone that has never played an instrument before. I've played guitar for nearly 20 years and tried to play violin a few times when they happened to be around. I really stank!!! I understand the theory, its the technique of fingering and using the bow that gave me grief. Besides, how many times have you seen women swoon to a violinist??? While the piano player can draw a crowd and possibly sing too. Haven't seen to many singing violinist besides Charlie Daniels(old country and western artist). If you've never played an instrument before, go with the piano! If your really interested in playing music in an orchastra eventually, go with the violin. You'd have a much better chance of advancement within the ranks. Plus, the strings section has several violin spots while the piano is usually a solo or duet format.
